Indian Casinos
There are 16 Indian casinos in Michigan and since the majority of the casinos are small, most of the dining facilities are more like snack bars rather than restaurants. The largest casino is Soaring Eagle which has more than 50 blackjack tables and over 4,000 slot machines.
The Indian Tribes are not required to release information on their slot machine percentage paybacks, but according to Patrick Leen at the Michigan Racing Commission, which is responsible for regulating the tribe's slots, "the machines must meet the minimum standards for machines in Nevada or New Jersey." In Nevada the minimum return is 75% and in New Jersey it's 83%. Therefore, Michigan Indian casinos must return at least 75% in order to comply with the law.
Unless otherwise noted, all Indian casinos in Michigan are open 24 hours and offer the following games: blackjack, slots and video poker. Other games offered include: craps (C), roulette (R), baccarat (B), mini-baccarat (MB), poker (P), Caribbean Stud Poker (CSP), Let It Ride (LIR), keno (K) and bingo (BG). The minimum gambling age at most Michigan casinos is 21. The two exceptions are Soaring Eagle and Chip-In's Island where the minimum age is 18.
